General Terms and Conditions of Sale and Rental

Article 2 – Purpose

These General Conditions of Sale and Rental apply to all services offered by BABYLONE SARL under the brand The Mill of Babel, in particular:

  • Tourist accommodation; ;

  • Bicycle and accessory rental ;

  • Breakfast baskets ;

  • Gourmet hampers ;

  • Luggage transport ;

  • Additional services offered to clients.

All bookings imply full and complete acceptance of these terms and conditions.


Article 3 – Bookings made via partner platforms

Some bookings can be made through third-party platforms or software, including:

  • Beds24 for accommodation; ;

  • Loki for bicycle rental.

The terms and conditions of use, booking, and payment specific to these platforms remain applicable for aspects relating to their services.

These General Conditions of Sale and Rental govern the services provided by BABYLONE SARL under the brand The Mill of Babel, in particular the terms and conditions for accommodation, bicycles and additional services offered to customers.

The information displayed during booking on partner platforms, notably prices, availability, and cancellation conditions, takes precedence when it is more precise or more up-to-date than these terms and conditions.


Article 4 – Booking

Bookings can be made:

  • Via the website. ;

  • Via partner platforms; ;

  • By phone ;

  • By email.

The booking becomes definitive after payment or required deposit has been validated.


Article 5 – Prices

Prices are quoted in euros, inclusive of all taxes (VAT).

The applicable rates are those displayed at the time of booking.

Le Moulin de Babel reserves the right to change its prices at any time without affecting confirmed bookings.


Article 6 – Payment

Payment for services can be made using the payment methods offered at the time of booking.

All bookings must be paid for in accordance with the terms indicated at the time of order.


ACCOMMODATION

Article 7 – Arrival and Departure

Accommodation is available:

  • From 16:30 the day of arrival ;

  • Until 11:00 AM The day of departure.

Any late arrival must be reported as soon as possible.


Article 8 – Accommodation Cancellation Conditions

In case of cancellation by the client:

  • More 30 days Before arrival: full refund; ;

  • Enter 15 and 30 days Before arrival: 50% of the total cost of the stay remains payable; ;

  • Less 15 days Before arrival: the total amount for the stay remains due.

In case of early departure or no-show, no refund will be granted.


Article 9 – Occupying the Premises

The tenant undertakes to:

  • Use places peacefully; ;

  • Respect their destination; ;

  • Respect the maximum number of occupants stated when booking; ;

  • Maintain the peace and quiet of the premises. ;

  • Respect the natural spaces present on the property.

Any wilful damage or clearly inappropriate use of the facilities may result in charges for repair costs.


Article 10 – Animals

Animals are accepted under the sole responsibility of their owner.

The owner of the animal remains responsible for any damage caused to people, property or equipment.


BIKE HIRE

Article 11 – Handover of equipment

The equipment is returned in good working order.

The tenant acknowledges having checked the apparent condition of the equipment upon its collection.

A valid form of identification may be requested.


Article 12 – Caution

A deposit is required for each bicycle or accessory hired.

Its amount varies according to the value of the equipment concerned.

The security deposit will not be cashed except in the event of damage, loss, theft not covered, or non-compliance with these terms and conditions.


Article 13 – Use of equipment

The tenant undertakes to:

  • Use the equipment in accordance with its normal purpose. ;

  • Respect the Highway Code ;

  • Ensure hardware security; ;

  • Report any incident or damage immediately.

The tenant remains responsible for the equipment for the entire duration of the rental.


Article 14 – Accidental damage and theft insurance

Bicycles include damage and theft insurance within the rental fee.

This cover applies only:

  • To the bicycles; ;

  • To the equipment fitted to the bicycle; ;

  • When the equipment is securely fastened to a fixed point using an approved anti-theft device supplied or accepted by Le Moulin de Babel.

Are not covered:

  • Accessories not attached to the bike ;

  • The tenant's personal effects.

The theft insurance does not apply if the bicycle has not been secured in accordance with the instructions provided during the rental.

Any claim for theft must be accompanied by a report filed with the competent authorities.


Article 15 – Use of electric bicycles

The tenant undertakes to use only chargers supplied or approved by Le Moulin de Babel.

Any damage caused by the use of an unsuitable charger may be charged to the tenant.


Article 16 – Tenant's Responsibility

The tenant remains solely responsible:

  • In compliance with the Highway Code; ;

  • Regarding the choice of routes taken; ;

  • Her physical fitness to complete the proposed route; ;

  • Damage caused to third parties during the rental period.

The advice, maps, and itinerary recommendations provided by Le Moulin de Babel are for guidance only.


Article 17 – Borrowed or Rented Accessories

The accessories provided (helmets, trailers, child seats, smartphone holders, panniers, baskets, locks, and other equipment) must be returned in the same condition as they were supplied.

Any loss, theft, or damage may result in a charge corresponding to the cost of replacement or repair.


Article 18 – Return of Equipment

The equipment must be returned at the agreed date and time.

Any significant unnotified delay may result in additional charges corresponding to the extra duration of use.


Additional services

Article 19 – Breakfast baskets and gourmet hampers

Any order cancelled before noon the day before the service will be fully refunded.

After this period, any sums paid will be retained to cover purchases and preparations already made.


Responsibilities

Article 20 – Liability

Le Moulin de Babel cannot be held responsible:

  • Accidents resulting from the misuse of hired equipment; ;

  • Loss, theft or damage to personal belongings; ;

  • Disruptions due to weather conditions ;

  • Events beyond his/her/their control.


Article 21 – Force majeure

Neither party shall be liable for the non-performance of its obligations in the event of force majeure as defined by French law.


Article 22 – Consumer Mediation

In accordance with articles L.612-1 et seq. of the Consumer Code, the customer may make free use of the following mediator:

Article 23 – Applicable Law

These terms and conditions are governed by French law.

Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably shall fall within the jurisdiction of the competent French courts.
